I don't like to be rude to strangers however stupid they might seem. I don't see any reason to be rude back either.It's Just the way I am
I usually reply that I'm not Scottish.However I have a Scottish name and Celtic background.
Rude comments I just ignore

I never thought about that question, although People have asked me that before. If I hear that question again in the next couple of weeks, I think I will be replying in eiher Chinese or French.

I'm not sure which I find more annoying, "Are you scottish" or those who ask "Wheres you'r kilt" with a bad accent the days I'm not wearing one.
When six months old I was adopted, the womans great grand parents named Muir came from Scotland, the mans parents named "Di Liberti" came from Sicily.
So when asked "Are you Scottish", I reply "No, but my mother is" then walk away.
