    Not sure where you are on the globe Longforgan, so not sure about access other than an online source.

    Something I use a lot for hike when I have a bunch of gear...lunch, water, plus the usual stuff, is a reproduction of a U.S. Civil War haversack. Similar deals are available for most armies in the old days.

    Mine has a wide strap worn on one shoulder and across my body. Haversack hangs on one side. Worked for millions of grunts, why not me? Also fits with the historic look of kilts.

    Suppose one could google for "haversack"
