I have just finished re-reading, "The Man Who Never Was", by Lt. Cmdr. Ewen Montague. A fascinating true account of a successful British counter intelligence opperation just before the Allied invasion of Sicily.

The Man who never was.
Jock, I too read this book long ago. If I remember, there was also a Picture(movie) made of it. I distinctly remember the image of the dead pilot floating in the tidal surf.

Yes there was a film made of the event in the 1950's I think and without spilling the beans for future readers, your memory is nearly right!

Follow the River by James A Thom. Story of Mary Ingles capture and escape from the indians. Her Journey back from just west of Cincinnati to Blacksburg Virginia. Amazing survival story.
