Take care,

(PS: Arlen, did you receive my recent E-mail regarding The Storrington Gathering?)
And so in the last 8 years you have lost all trace of 'dashing' or did you just give up dashing in favour of 'noble and wise'?
I didn't get any email. Dreadgerbil@gmail.com right?

Kudos to them for not losing their bearing under those circumstances.

Well, I finally got a kilt in the wind picture of my own.
When I looked at the picture I was surprised to see that my kilt was only getting blown backwards a wee bit. it felt like it was about to blow over my head.
What you can't see in the picture is that I was struggling up the street against driving wind and rain.
Quite a day.

Arlen, Glasgow winds are nothing compared with other possibilities!

My UKs react more to the wind than my casual USAK. I guess their logo patch works very effectively in lieu of a kilt pin.

I have yet to see it, but I know the picture is out there... it will surface one day...
While hiking around Scotland in August 2007, I went to see the ruins of Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. When I reached the top of the tall tower ruins, I held my camera waaaay up high above my head with my arms fully stretched upwards. (I was trying to get as much of the ruins into the photo as possible.) Then... a sudden burst of wind... and I felt the bottom of my kilt striking the back of my neck as well as my chin. The WHOLE THING blew up- all the way around! I have begun referring to this as the "full kilt inversion incident." It was like I was doing a handstand in my kilt... only I was upright and the kilt wasn't.
It is the only time I have ever had the problem. I was wearing a black Survival UK at the time, with a heather grey t-shirt. If anyone ever finds the pic, they will know it is me. It was especially surprising to me, since the Survival UK is rather hefty and I had several items in the pockets to weight it down further.
The reason I know there are photos of the "full kilt inversion incident" is because there were several Asian tourists standing behind me. Once I controlled my kilt and turned around, they all had their cameras raised. The men were laughing, and the women were sheepishly covering their faces to hide their giggles. I just smiled at them and said, "now you know the answer to the most-asked question in Scotland" as I walked past them. (Dont know if they understood me or not.) Still, it was quite funny...
