I will be moving up next year, I am sure. Right now my coach is an A level thrower. His numbers dwarf mine by a mile. In fact most A throwers around here are killing me.
John's numbers:
LWFD 72'+
HWFD 35'+
LH 114'+
HH 95'+
Open Stone 40'+
Braemer 35'+
WFH 15' (no spin)
Sheaf 26'
Caber ...well, just alot better than me!
He has been thowing for 5 years now. Check him out on NASGA, John Odden. Most of the other A's are not too far behind him. I still have some work to do, especially in my hammers!
I told him I would be throwing against him next year for sure!!
I hit my LWFD goal in practice yesterday with a 63' 8". Now if I can just pull it off in a game. I will keep everyone posted!

Loch Lomond is coming up in three weeks.
I want to see an 80+ in the light hammer
a 65+ in the heavy hammer
a 40+ in the LWFD
and to clear 13 feet in the WOB
All of this is eminently do-able, but if I DO it, then I will have proven that Livermore wasn't a fluke and then when I go to the Seaside Games I'm just going to go on reflexes, not think everything to death and wail on the implements and see what happens.

Goals for Harveysburg:
Braemer: 29 (last was 28.8)
HWFD: 23 (last was 22.8)
LWFD: 34 (last was 33.5)
WOB: 12.5 (flaked at 11'6" last because I didn't pass to 10 as was my plan)
H. Hammer: I'd LOVE a 50!
L. Hammer: 65 ( I go 60 all day in practice)
Sheaf: 16 (Did a 14 last and been doing consistant 15's in practice)
Caber: Cleaner picks
Well--we'll see what the little 'old' man can do, eh? Ya know, sometimes I feel like I'm the mascot for the 'real' throwers:-)

If you go out to the games and throw, make no mistake, you ARE a real thrower!! Good luck on the goals!

I just want to get back into the sport. I had knee surgery and in 3 weeks I can start practicing. I was wondering does anyone know of any places to practice in Cedar Rapids Iowa? And if so when is the St. Louis event.?

Take a look at the NASGA site...http://www.nasgaweb.com
and check the forum. Might be worth signing up and putting a post in, looking for training buds.

Jon,
Knee rehab here too--knocked a full year off me but getting back is VERY good. Welcome back! My only advice is to take it slow and enjoy your events. Work on form most of all...as you continue things tend to click back into shape. I've had to REALLY adjust my form because of my injury, but I learned not to push too fast. Just getting back into things feels good right now---distances/heights will come as I get stronger.
If you can't find a suitable place to practice--I use a public park. People tend to clear out of the way once I start throwing ;-)

Ok--2 games left this year: This weekend in Harveysburg OH and next weekend in Tecumseh MI. What can I say--I'm stoked! I wasn't sure what I'd be able to do with the rehab this year, and as things go, it looks like I'll have gotten 3 games in--SO much more than I could have hoped for. Now I just have to post scores and find someone to video some throws so our rabble here can fix my jacked-up form :-)
