We're all the same age.
Today is 26 February, 2009, and I will be 56 on 3/3/09. (Yes, I turned 50 on 03-03-03)
But I dont' remember getting old, and in my mind, I am still about 35 or 40. (If I try to act like I am, I remember that I am not!)
The relative passage of time changes as we age, and, therefore, we all think we're the same age. All guys think they're 31. And to be honest, relatively speaking, we are the same age. I don't feel old (most of the time), and I don't really think old (most of the time); in fact, I tend to view all of life the same way I did years ago. And, so, I say we're all the same age.
But the real difference is that I have been around so many blocks, made so many mistakes, enjoyed so many wins and sunrises and sunsets and love . . . that I have really grown somewhat wiser. That's the big difference, and that's what makes getting older OK. It is the price of wisdom.
And it cannot be communicated, only experienced.
Time for my meds. The nurses insist that I go back to the home now.
Of course, I've seen my children grow up, have children, etc. But it's all relative to one's time on Earth--it really is.
