Also I think that yellow garter ties could be used with grey, navy, or even white hose with the XMTS tartan for less formal events.
As an Alton Brown fan I am thinking of multi-tasking here

Fair enough. I like to use white sparingly personally, either way it will look smashing!

but how would white and blue diced hose be any different from those commercially available now??? If they are going to be Xmarks specific.....then shouldn't they be actual tartan hose as opposed to just blue and white diced?

You have a very good point there
I was hoping that some of the "Auld Crabbits" might weigh in with what is most traditional, tartan hose or the diced.

Not being an "Auld Crabbit" I can honestly say I don't know. What I do know was that tartan hose were more usual in my younger days for "dressing up".

Hey Y'all-
My prototype 3 color diced hose are complete, and I have them now. Pics soon, but I wanted to say that having a 3rd color (Triced Hose?) makes them more tartan specific. 3 choices from the XMTS tartan will REALLY look cool, but a tradiotional 2 color will look equally fine also. This is a great tartan for diced hose!

Both are very traditional, Jamie, so I don't think that's an issue.
The key consideration would be versatility. Argyle (tartan) hose would pretty much be specific to the X Marks tartan and in all liklihood wouldn't match other kilts in your wardrobe.
With diced hose, in only two colors, there is a greater liklihood that the hose would look good with other tartans, so you might get more wear out of them.

I'm not going to leave the pic up long (Sorry about the quality-I had to use flash, making the colors not seem to match the tartan. They're spot on though). Once the rain lets up, I'll model properly. If its not here when you read this, PM and I'll email you the pic-
