How Do you Observe Tartan Day?

I'll be buying lumber, ordering yarn to make a pair of hose, and, like Matt, I have to go to the dentist's, too, but to get a crown on the tooth I had root-canaled last week. I think I'll wear my Carolina box to the dentist's and yarn shop, but not to the lumber yard.

This will be my first Tartan Day. I will be Kilted all day in my new Hughes/Pugh tartan. Looking forward to enjoying my kilt.

As with last year, I'm wearing a kilt to work. So far, I've gotten three complements (and the few usual stares) since I walked in the door about 20 minutes ago.

I've gotten quite a few compliments(and stares) as well. Someone called it a skirt

so I had to educate them.

I am on the Cortland (NY) Celtic Cultural Association committee which sponsors the annual Celtic festival in August. Today, Tartan Day we are having a fund raiser for the festival at a local pub/restaurant--Hairy Tony's on Main Street in Cortland. We are having pipers, fiddlers, Glenlivit Malt Whisky seminar and sampling, haggis, shortbread other food and drink. We are also having a knobby knees contest, fiddle jam session, tartan and Scottish displays and of course the St. Andrew's cross and Lion Rampant will be flying outside the pub (compliments of myself). Admission to the event is $10, but we are offering anyone who comes kilted 1/2 price admission of $5. I will of course be kilted...Htg. MacLeod anc, don't know who else on the committee will show up tartaned. The event will run from 5-9 PM but I am going early to help set up. So that is what I have going on today. Wearing my kilt to work today, something I normally do about once a month and a little more on weekends.

No kilt is allowed at my place of business. I didn't even remember to wear a tartan tie.

Usually, Tartan Day in Texas is celebrated by attending the San Antonio Highland Games and Celtic Music Festival (SAHG) on the closest prior weekend; but this year, because Easter was the weekend before Tartan Day, the SAHG were held at the end of March.

Regardless, Zardoz has organized a gathering at the Tilted Kilt for tonight, and any reason to go to a pub and meet with friends is a good enough one for me. I'll be there with kilt on, if I don't have to work too late.

Which kilt are you wearing? I know you're justifiably pleased with the lovely kilt lady Chrystel made for you, but, since you work for the DOD, I'm guessing maybe you wore your Leatherneck?
