Funny thing, I thought it brought out his masculine side, which is usually quite hidden. See, a kilt brings out the inner "manly man."
I loved the boots! But maybe I also want them for me, to wear with skinny jeans. I had Boot Envy.
Kurt is a handsome kid, the Black Watch looked great on him.
I agree, I think that is perhaps the most masculine I've seen Kurt, though, I might have to review the few episodes before he came out of the closet.

I don't think Kurt was ever in the closet.
He's also not exactly a cross-dresser. He's worn a woman's sweater, and remarked "fashion has no gender". He's also worn some exercise wear that was...maybe a tad feminine looking, but Chris Colfer has a slight build which may have lent to that look. He may have worn a kilt (or even a skirt) once I think in season one, when he gets sent to the principals office. It was a very quick scene and difficult to judge.(All the characters dressed up as Lady Gaga, so I don't think that counts.) He is definitely a clothes horse though.

It's not as overt- it's implied. And that's the problem. The implication makes it all the worse, because it's that much harder to see. The kilt, and Scottish culture in general, is treated with blatant disrespect on a fairly regular basis by the media. See my linked iCarly videos in earlier posts...

Nighthawk,
I get what you are saying about the iCarly clips [I had never seen the show before] but I don't believe the Glee episode was disrespectful in my humble opinion. Also, I think one should look at the episode, the characters, and the production in its context as a TV series. In that context, and having watched the show on several other occaisions, I did not feel that the episode showed any blatant disrespect toward me or my ancestors. But I do understand that others may have found it disrespectful in some measure. That said, I still stand by my original post, I thought the BW kilt, the PC coatee, Tux shirt and bow tie looked good.

Yes it did! I agree. I just wish it would have been on a character who was not normally regarded as effeminate. As some glee fan has stated, "Another day, another Kurt in a skirt." http://gleestyle.livejournal.com/23136.html And that's the problem...

Just wanted to say congratulations on having your kilt on Glee.

Yes, a couple months ago Glee contacted us and purchased a full Prince Charlie outfit with 2 kilts, one Black Watch, and the other Royal Stewart. They chose to use the Black Watch kilt for the show. I hope it turns out well, and that the outfit of our heritage gets its proper respect, and is properly portrayed. Kurt is the character wearing the kilt. I hope it gets prom goers across the world to think about wearing kilts! What could be more manly? If you doubt that, just watch Braveheart a few more times! ;-)

Last week Time Magazine named Chris Colfer (who plays Kurt on Glee) as one of the 100 most influential people of 2011. http://www.time.com/time/specials/pa...066418,00.html

Would it have been better if the kissing bully had worn a kilt?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Karofski wouldn't. He's too insecure about himself.

I can only speak for myself here. I'm sorry you found our words to be filled with hate or bigotry, but I stand behind mine. Which incidentally, they most certainly did not hold the intent you seemed to place on them.
I have watched every episode the show Glee and have faithfully since it first aired. I do not have any issues with homosexual people. None. Zero. If I did, not only would I not be a "Gleek", I would not have offered to officiate the wedding of my friends or likely even been friends with them in the first place. I am more than a bit upset that you would make these kind of accusations.
However, I also have a son, still in high school who enjoys being kilted at school. He has enough issues without his peers associating a kilt with a gay character. I was expressing my hopes that, despite other appearances, his peers are smarter than that. Even though for most, it is likely this is first time they've seen a kilt worn on medium like television or the movies. These are kids are too young to have seen Braveheart and the one's who make comments well, it's unlikely they've seen rom-coms like Made Of Honor.
I am sorry you got a horrible bigoted and hateful comment while kilted. But that doesn't mean our words were the same.
