Cuban. oddly enough, in my hometown I know more places to get the Cuban Cohiba than the Dominican (distribution on them is slim here) and I have yet to try the Dominican.

Save your time, effort, and money. Quite possibly the worst "premium" cigar on the planet.

For those of you who have had bad experiences with Cohiba cigars I have a suggestion. Don't smoke them when you first buy them. I have found them to be harsh and acrid straight from the vendor.

Instead, let them age in a good humidor for a few months, eg I buy them in the winter and smoke them in the summer. They change character dramatically - smoother, cooler (not hot and acrid), milder, and much more flavorful. They are worth the wait.

By the way, a good humidor does not have to be an expensive one. I use a circa 1970, plastic, Thermos dual-walled ice chest. It makes the best humidor I have ever owned. The "downside" is that it is so air tight that I have to remove the lid a couple of times a week and fan fresh air in. Cigars are a big responsibility.

My only complaint with Cohibas is that they generally are too expensive for my taste. I much prefer the far cheaper Villar y Villar from Nicaragua, or the more moderately-priced cigars from Casablanca, H. Upmann, Partagas, or Licenciados.

A story about Licenciados and cigar pricing: I was in the old mall in Las Vegas (not the City Center) and I approached a cigar kiosk. There were some Licenciados Toros displayed for $11 a piece. I truthfully told the purveyor, "I buy that same cigar from Mike's for $2." His reply, "Me too." It's easy to pay way too much for a cigar, especially in a tourist town.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Typically if I get a box of Cohibas within a couple mos after they're rolled, they're fantastic, after 6 mos, I won't touch them for two years. A few months is not enough time to get out of the sick period.

Before anyone complaint about the bad tasting of Cohiba, make sure you are smoking the real thing. Too many people have smoked fake Cohibas amd complaint about it. Cohiba is one of the most counterfeited cigars in the world.

    Re: Cigars

While I was out and about today, I picked up some cigars at a Cigarettes For Less store. A $2.49 belicoso from a manufacurer I had never heard of (not bad for a bundle cigar) and 4 Romeo y Julieta 1875 Reserves (1 looks like half of a belicoso, the other three are coronas) for $6.99 a stick. Yesterday while I was in San Francisco, I stopped into Grant's Tobacconists on Market Street and bought 2oz. of their propietary blend, Macon Supreme (a blend of cherry Cavendish, toasted Cavendish and rubbed Cavendish) it has kind of a cherry aroma with a hint of vanilla, a rather sweet and mild aromatic. I also have some whiskey Cavendish. I think I'm going to have a bowl of the whiskey Cavendish with a dram of 12 year old Glenkinchie single malt tomorrow. I might see how the whiskey Cavendish tastes mixed with the Macon Supreme.

    Re: Cigars

I have about one cigar a month and also on special occasions. I love them but that's about it for me.
