Something is missing. AT least 4" of red fabric. Oh indeed it is. 4" is something of an understatement.

Double the long side and you get nearly 3 yrds exactly. This piece isn't long enough to be a kilt, but that one would be. There might be a perfect match for this one out there someone. Could we have an actual example of a former belted plaid cut in half during Proscription? Bingo. The only thing one cannot be certain of is when it was cut up. Could have been during Proscription but I'd expect Regency or Victoian era was more likely.

Do we know how much the piece weighs? No we don't. Unfontuately I haven't been able to get my hands on it - yet.
