A word of caution about this style of hose
One last comment about this style of hose. The wool is thick and warm but it can be rough on the skin on the bottom of your feet. I would recommend wearing a thin pair of supportive sport socks (the kind that just cover the foot) to make them comfortable for walking. I use these all the time especially with my nicer hose or when I am doing a lot of dancing/walking. I think they help with making the hose last longer, they reduce odor in the hose, and give your foot additional comfort and support.
Cheers
Jamie

Yesterday I wore a pair of really nice Lewis hose from the Scottish Tartans museum that I received as a gift last Christmas. These are very nice, thick wool hose. Upshot is that while they're just lovely...1. I find them to be kind of scratchy and 2.) they won't go around my calves, and because they are SO incredibly tight, I can't pull them up high enough. They're just not very comfortable and by the end of the day, even with garters/flashes, they were 1/3rd of the way down my calves..
Today I have on a $9.99 -on-sale pair of cream/white wool/acrylic blend white hose from USA Kilts. Yes...this is the thin, cheap hose that everybody loves to hate hate hate hate hate. However... 1.) they're not scratchy and they feel great 2.) they're big enough to go around my calves, and they're not so incredibly tight that they actually go up high enough. They'll stay there all day long. I know, because I've worn them a dozen times before.
I know which pair I like better. I will shortly have a pair of lovat green, size 10-13 nice Lewis hose to give away to someone local. They've been worn 4x and I'm done with them, they're useless to me unless I scrunch them down.

Alan,
What makes clothing, much like knives, "work" for someone has a lot less to do with how many $$$$ you spend or what brand they are as how they feel to the wearer (or user).
The finest most expensive custom made knife in the world isn't any good unless it fits my hand just right. A cheap massed produced one that feels right and does what I need is far better. Hey what works for you works for you...
Cheers

There ya go. Hit the nail on the head.
Once I finish spending money on Tartan Day, I really need to go get some of the O'Marled sox from Sock Dreams. Joshua also has gigantic calves and he says they fit great.
Anyway, that was a bit of a thread derail. Back on topic....the sweater/sox combination looks great IMHO. There. I've said it three times!!!
