Bannockburn 2014 Sgian Dubh Ban...
As most know, there is a proposed ban on the wearing/carrying of an essential (in my mind) element of proper attire: the sgian dubh.
There is a petition to lift the proposed ban here:

Wow. Went over just to take a look and found that the most recent signature (#1,440) is someone I've known for over a decade.

I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."

#1444 is someone I've known all my life! Me.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Mod hat off.
I wonder how many of the people who signed this petition actually have any intentions of attending Bannockburn.
Speaking as a Scottish Armiger who will be hosting a tent at Bannockburn I am only too well aware of the problems of knife crime in Scotland and will certainly NOT be signing this petition, nor do I intend to wear a sgian-dhu at Bannockburn.

Alex: I'm not objecting, but just pointing out that if a new thread is appended to an old thread, then unless the "dropped subscriptions" from the old thread are re-subscribed, then a lot of folks will not get the new posts emailed to them. Is that correct, or not? Thanks.

If you are subscribed to the original thread your subscription should remain intact as the new thread was merged into the original one. If you are subscribed only to the new thread then you are correct that your automatic subscription may no longer apply, in which case you would need to manually re-subscribe. Subscribing and un-subscribing to a thread is very easy to do. Any member may subscribe to any thread they wish to receive email updates to.

It is nice to see that some organizations actually listen to the people they hope to attract to their events. This may have been a small thing but it obviously is very important to a great many people. They are to be commended for this change to the rules.
