Perusing this thread again, I realized the "lad" Alan was referring to might be me. I felt like the kid who had to be reminded that he was "IT" as the game of tag continued. Side note: at 58 years old I like being called a Lad. I still have a serious interest when the finished design is submitted. I also am recruiting other folks with my own challenge, ie. my post about the Lake Lomond habitat of the wild cat. Look for my 4 yard tartan order when the dust clears.

If the tweed becomes a reality, I am in for enough for a waistcoat....
Last edited by Theyoungkiltman; 28th August 14 at 12:25 AM. Reason: vest in britain means what would be called a undershirt in the usa. thus I have changed the post to say waistcoat.

I love cats and have recently learned of the plight of the Highland Tiger. The tartan looks awesome, and I like the way it is evolving based on suggestions. I am seriously interested in enough to make into a 5 yard kilt. I'm assuming it is woven double-width and I'll need 3 yards, then.

Here it is with the white replaced with Morning Grey. I also changed a couple other line thicknesses

I think you're on the right path there.
Now we need some advise from our kiltmakers about the pleatability (obviously to the black stripe).

Love it, Glen! Much better without the stark white.

    Glen -
I agree, this latest variant is looking good. The sett-size on my screen looks to be about what... 6 inches currently? I don't know how true-to-actual size the image is, but if you can pad the thread counts, for a 7-inch to 7.5-inch sett, this could lend itself to several interesting pleat-to-stripe options.

If you go with tweed then I'm possibly in for enough for a jacket and waistcoat.

    Officially "interested."
