Greetings From the Land of Roadrunner and Coyote!

Greetings... my name is Norm and recently got an interest in kilts when I was in Phoenix. I saw guys wearing kilts at two separate locations, not associated with any celebrations or fairs. Both of them appeared to be utility type kilts, one a dark color, the other camo. I was intrigued, so I went online to find out more about it. I liked what I saw; and wanted to give one a try, but what would my wife think? I have never had any inclination to cross-dress or anything like that, and these are definitely manly attire. To my surprise, when I told my wife my interest, she loved the idea! So I went online to show her what they look like, and she was even more enthusiastic about it than before. So I ordered a Sport Kilt that matched my Scottish side tartan the the closest (Ramsay), their Big Blue. It is supposed to arrive in a couple days. Can't wait to give it a try. Will wear it at our anniversary party. The BIG question I have is this: do I REALLY have the guts to wear it outside; to the grocery store, the post office or Wal Mart?

    Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"

As far as cross-dressing goes, that's actually a forbidden topic here on XMarks, so you'll not hear a word of it. Check the forum rules! A kilt is a man's garment. Period.

    Welcome aye, indeed!

Welcome, Norm! Yes, you have the guts and you will be very pleased to discover that your wife is not the only lady who appreciates a man in a kilt. (You might not want to share that fact with her! )
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.

Do it! Just hop in the car and head down to the Tucson Celtic Festival and Highland Games (November 1st and 2nd). Wear it with pride!

Yes you do. I would suggest you force yourself to wear the kilt at every opportunity until it really doesn't bother you how it makes others react. Within a week you'll lose all feelings of self-consciousness when kilted. The fact is most people will stare but they either engage you in polite conversation, flirt with you, or quickly get over the fact you're in a kilt and go on with their business.

Hi Norm and a warm welcome from sunny Queensland!

Might be a good idea if your "Better Half" accompanies you on your first outing to the store - she can help fend off all the admiring ladies wanting to flirt with you!
    Regards, Sav.
