    here's a pic of a hakama

looks great i think. I find outfits like this, as well as kilt outfits, have a simple sort of elegance to them.

I took aikido for a year (many years ago) and I still can remember how cool the black belts looked in their hakamas. Our sensei also held a black belt in iaido, on occasion he would demonstrate some of the moves...WOW....just like the end of the film "Yojimbo".

    Cheers

there seems to be alot of interest in martial arts on the kilt board here....I'm wondering if maybe that's the reason i like kilts....

let me try to explain a bit better. When wearing my kilt it gives me a sort of confidence. Just like when I put on a karate gi, it makes me want to be a better person....just..more positive.
Maybe it is about that simple elegance that was mentioned in an above post. Maybe it's about that both outfits harken back to a more honorable past...who knows.
All I know is I feel good when I put them on. And feeling good isn't a bad thing for a man or a woman to feel.

I'm told by my kiltmaker that a womens kilt is not the same as a mans kilt...the aprons close in reverse...right apron over left...and he calls them kilted skirts....and this was confirmed too me when a friend of my sister wanted to see my new kilt...she was born and raised in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island, was a highland dancer and wore kilts for alot of her younger years....I handed my kilt to her and the first she did was try to look under lining, she smiled and said "handmade,nice...do you mind if I wrap it around me".....before I said anything the kilt was getting wrapped and she was trying to put the left strap thru the right side ....I said mans kilt...she laughed and said right and then strapped it proper

My lovely wife is eyeing a UK. Why would you presume to tell her what to wear?
I am big on your life your rules, my life my rules. I love her in heels and mini-skirts but her comfort is more important than me perving on her.
To me, kilts are skirt with a different style. I like it, I wear. If I do not it would be in the waaaayyyy back of the closet or folded in the bottom drawer (still haven't figured out the ebay thing)

You know.....that's what I'm starting to wonder.... I see some of these young women at the mall and I'm wondering.....is that a really short skirt or just a really wide belt? Furthermore.....and this is what I'm really curious about....how can someone sit in something like that and maintain any modesty?

Oh....in case you were wondering, this is another of life's little puzzles that I will never understand and have decided to dismiss from my mind. I don't understand it, I never will, and I cannot waste any more brain power trying to figure it out.

I was going to type something about women's kilted skirts never being that short but then I remembered what I saw at the Tilted Kilt Restaurant and Bar so I guess I won't go there....

To get back on topic....why would women ever want to wear men's clothes when they have such an array of exciting alternatives?
