    Thanks Todd!

    I've mentioned this idea to Alan, but I'll through it out to the group as well. The Address of the Haggis is a fairly long poem. It may not be completely traditional (then again neither are the Bay Area kilted) but perhaps we could divide the poem and have each person read one stanza.

    If no others step up for the Toast to the Lassies, I start putting pen to paper.

    Cheers

    Burns Supper web resources

    Panache,

    A search on "Burns Supper" brings up a lot of sites for review. One I found particularly enjoyable is here: http://www.auldlangsyne.org/index.html
    It has lots of examples of readings, toasts, answers, etc. Hope it helps.

    Panache;

    The Address is not that hard to learn; I learned it about 3 days with no problems. It really should not be broken up by verse; I have seen the famous Burnsian, John Cairney, perform as a "duet" with his wife translating the poem, but really, it should be recited from memory. It can be read, but it's just not the same...but, I am a Burns "purist".

    The World Burns Federation has some good examples of toasts on their Burns Supper site:

    Cheers,

    Todd

    Welcome to XMarksTheScot, and especially to the regimented NorCal rabble. Look forward to meeting you there.

    Post a mug shot (or at least the pleats ) over on the new member sub-forum so the world-wide support group can meet you too.
