    Most comfortable kilt

Let me tell you my situation. I recently purchased a new kilt after I lost some weight and my size 38 did not fit me any more. I was much more informed this time around and I purchased a polyviscose. I was finally able to wear it on Friday to work. It was a little stiff, but I think once I wash it that will go away. However, during the time I wore it I never found it to be the most comfortable thing to wear. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed wearing it, but it just was not as comfortable as a pair of jeans.

So, what I am looking for is everyone's opinion on the most comfortable traditional kilt they have. This would be something for everyday use, not for anything formal. I want a kilt that would is very comfortable, even when I have to wear it all day for both my jobs (3 days a week I work 15 hour days). Just let me know what kilt maker you prefer and why theirs is so comfortable for you. I appreciate your help!

Well, since you're asking, I like Jerry's SWK kilts. I think the consensus is the acrylic is a tad softer than PV (I could be wrong, and would welcome correction on this point).

I just know that I found the acrylic to be suprisingly softer than what I remember of the tank I wore in the military.

Plus, I'm terribly allergic to wool (the horror!), so it's either PV or acrylic for me anyway - at least for kilts I'm going to wear regularly. I could deal with it in the military because we only wore the kilts when we were doing ceremonial stuff.

SWK's heavyweight and standard kilts feel great, aren't too expensive, and look amazing for casual wear.

I can't say it enough, SWK is awesome!

For everyday wear I too vote for the SWK standard or the heavyweight. No worries if something happens to them (I mean I still worry about them, but they clean up easier than a wool kilt). For going out non-formal and formal I'll wear my IOS or my Cameron of Erracht tanks.

I have to agree, my SWK are nice for the most part. If your weight loss is still a process and you are going to keep losing weight.... a SWK standard isn't a lot to put out as a temp kilt.

Out of curiosity, if you don't mind stating, where did you get the kilt from? I was curious b/c I've never heard anyone say that PV is 'stiff' or uncomfortable, unless they're talking about the 'Designed in Scotland' (NOTE: Not 'MADE in Scotland') import kilts.

I like all my kilts, but the most comfortable for all day wear (IMO) are the four yard box pleated ones. There are somewhat lighter in weight, and very well balanced, being equal amounts of fabric front and back.

It was a gift, so I will look into it. It might not be made in Scotland. Also, it is not really uncomfortable. I enjoyed wearing it. But it is not something I could wear all day. Do you see what I mean? It is hard to explain. When I told my wife she just looked at me with a blank stare.

I think my SWK were stiff out of the mailing box, but soften up after a few wears. Perhaps the PV wasn't worn enough? I know, different materials, but still...
