Hamish, I really understand how you must feel.

Five years ago my wife had a big tumor in her right kidney and the whole kidney had to be removed.

It took two months from finding it to surgery and during this time we started to collect examples of people having fully recovered from this kind of cancer. We only wanted to hear the good stories. We got many and it helped us a lot and the more of them we heard the more we felt convinced that she would survive.

Last week she was to her last control – she has gone through tests and has been scanned every year since then. Everything was perfect and she has no longer an increased risk of developing cancer compared to other people.

Your kind of cancer is different, I know, and the treatment is different. But I hope you’ll be able to find good examples. Positive thoughts, even in a difficult time, might help you to recover along with your medical treatment. Maybe some XMTS members can assist with good stories?

Hamish, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Never stop hoping.

    Greg

    My dear friend Ham,

It has been said before but let me say it again. X Marks is much more than an on-line forum. It is family. You are my family.
Without this incredible place I would not have ever known, far less, met you.

But I have met you. I have sat in your wonderful garden, I have experienced the welcome and the hospitality of a true Gentleman. Of a true Gentle Man.

All my thoughts and hopes are with you. Please know that even though you may not be with us much during this stressful time that we will be with you.

    Hamish,

A nephew of mine had a cancer below his knee two years ago, it also could only be surgically removed after one year of radiation and chemotherapy. It´s gone now!

    So keep on fighting!

I´ll be praying for you in the meantime!

You've made a difference to many of us here who have never met or even conversed with you. And we are thinking of you now, often.

Hamish my dear, you owe me a rematch on that game of miniature golf. Did you really think to get out of it this easily?

Seriously, all positive thoughts for the skill of your physicians, your own determination to beat this, and the global presence of the kilted rabble who stand ready to help in any way possible.

Stay strong and we shall meet again!

I'm joining my prayers for your speedy recovery to those already mentioned. I hope you're well enough to come to Grandfather Mountain next year. That would be a fine way to celebrate, don't you think?

Hamish, We've not met, but I feel that I know you via your posts and the photos you and others have posted on this forum. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all those doctors and medical staff that are, and will be, working with you. As others have already said, keep the positive thoughts and know that we are all here to give you strength and looking for the best possible outcome from your treatment.
