I have a WW1 1913 No1 Mk3-I believe the "wandering Zero" issue was a rifling thing-I have the old Metford variable rifling in mine-and am required to handload using Woodleigh bullets and IMR powder. Check your rifling twist, the ballistics of the ammunition from the era (including bullet diameter-mine takes .312", and every dang factory manuf only has .311") After figuring all of this out...I can put 6 bullets in a 1" hole at 100 yards.

    Mark,

The "Wandering Zero" was a problem with the Mk5, or "jungle Carbine". I had a very nice Fazakerly in this model, and it seemed Ok as a shooter, but would never do better than 5 shots into about 2 1/2 -3" at 100 yds.
Main thing was it was so Noisy!! I much prefer may old #1 mk 3.
Mind you, after mainly using muzzleloaders and Sniders and Martini -Hernries for a lot of years, even the No 1 Mk 111 sounds noisy now!!

Yes, I hunt, but the last 2 years didn't pan out!...(farm work and stuff) Not much for game -birds here, so mainly white-tail and Mule deer, plus elk & moose.

    Jock,
Lovely to see your hunting arms here!! They are so much a part of the Traditional Highland country scene.
Photos like these will help many to gain a better understanding of another aspect of Highland life,...a part sadly missing if we just show kilts and think "Kilts, Scotch and Burns night"!! :-)

I have hunted White Tail deer, every year since 1962. I have taken a harvested a nice 9 point buck and a nice fat doe so far this year. We have one week left in our season, so I might be able to add just a bit more to the freezer. There is nothing better than fried venison tenderloin and biscuits for breakfast.
