It seems this thread has come back to life! I thought that a wee topic like this may have been forgotten (by the rabble, certainly not by myself) before the final product could make its debut. Peter, it is good to hear that you have started on the bonnet so soon, somehow makes it more 'real'. I won't be needing it until late November, but that doesn't mean I don't anxiously await it! That reflective ribbon sounds like it may be worth the few extra dollars....

Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

This is getting toward halfway finished. It is hard to capture this orange but it is intense hunter orange.

The light doesn't do the orange justice. The pictures of the yarn were near enough blinding! Peter, I can't believe how far along the bonnet is. The dicing is superb, exactly how I envisioned it. I mayn't be the best deer stalker in the forest, but I bet I'll have the nicest bonnet! Cheers, Nick Pratt

Nice color choice on the dicing. Can't wait to see the final product!

I hope this won't be an issue for Nick in Massachusetts, but here in Maine, deer and moose hunters during firearms hunting season are required to wear a solid color hat in "hunter orange". While the dicing may seem like a small issue, the bonnet is not technically solid colored, and yes, the Wardens here are often sticklers about details, even seemingly minor ones like this.

Hmmm... here in NY it's just a matter of square inches required. It can be any combination of garments, and solid color is not mandated. Hopefully it's the same in Mass.

In mass it is measured in inches as well. I see many blaze orange baseball caps that feature a camouflage bill. Thank goodness I seem to have my bases covered! Cheers, Nick Pratt
