I wear the kilt whenever I want. For me, that means 3-4 times a month. We have two very active Scottish societies in my area. So, there’s almost always something going on. But, I also wear the kilt out to nice dinners, concerts, certain holidays, black tie events, and of course, to highland games. I wear the kilt to work only on National Tartan Day.

Being retired I have more possibilities to wear my kilts than before. On a yearly basis this best estimate might come close to my actual way of dressing:
Jeans/pants 35%
Shorts 10%
Traditional kilts 45%
Modern kilts etc. 10%
That makes 45% bifurcated and 55% unbifurcated. It may also be 47/53 or 50/50 but certainly not 55/45 or more in favor of trousers/shorts. Again it is an estimate, not something observed and registered.
In other words, I'll wear a kilt practically every day, but not necessarily the whole day. To me the kilt is primarily daily/casual wear and in this context also everywhere wear. I never wore a kilt to work, by the way.

When not working, I wear one of my 7 kilts whenever I can. I always wear my of my USAK PV Casuals when driving our RV, when traveling by car from Tennessee to visit grandkids in New York State (14 hours on the road one way) or North Carolina (7 hours on the road one way). I always wear it when going to/from the RV resort or campground shower building, being known as the "kilted camper." I wear one of my wool kilts to highland games, my wool Clan Claus kilt in the Clan Claus Society Clan Tent or when at an event with a group of Santas. I wear any one of my kilts when out and about to eat. I usually wear my XMarks tartan Freedom Kilt when going shopping because of having the left, right and hidden pocket on the inner apron.

The OP of this thread has not visited the forum since the 9th of June. His last communication to me was that he did not wish to remain active here.
If you are posting to answer the question of the OP he probably won't ever see it.

Point taken, Steve.
However, since the question is of far broader interest than merely satisfying the curiosity of the OP, could we let it run a bit longer?

That's a shame. Nice Bloke I thought. Maybe he'll change his mind and pop back now and then.

Am in Scotland and spent the last week in Edinburgh and Inverness. I am somewhat disappointed in the fact that except for museum attendants and shops dealing with tourists, I have not seen anyone else wearing a kilt. We are headed out to the fields where the Battle of Culloden took place. I hope to see more kilt wearing today.

Don't hold your breath Jerry, but do let us know if you do. Either way, take some pictures of Culloden and share your visit here. Cheers mate!
