If one doesn't have a carefully crafted response full of insightful discourse, then sometimes one might not post anything at all
Well, Mom always taught us "When there's nothing else to be said, don't say it!"
And as further evidence of the creeping plague of "social media", I see that Samsung (and possibly others) now offer refrigerators with app-capable WiFi / wireless computer screens mounted on the doors, just above the ice and water outlets. Do we really need that? ("Wow...just got #ice and #water. Thought U shud know."]
Side note if I may:
Using an apostrophe s after an s is just wrong,
For sure it was wrong in that one example, but is quite acceptable and correct in other cases;
e.g: "The police responded to the Jones's residence after a 911 call..." The other style, Jones', is wrong
unless the family name is Jone and a bunch of them own the house.
(Yeah, I was a copy editor.)

Yes, normally I self-edit much better than that.

Now I will wait for some wag to quote my post and add "***" or "I agree" at the end. There's always one!

I wouldn't mind, but probably would not use a "like" button. i tend to stay out of threads when I feel that others have captured my thoughts. It is not often that I feel I can add to the comments in a unique way.

In my opinion, that is where the "like" button or its equivalent is most valuable.
"It's all the same to me, war or peace,
I'm killed in the war or hung during peace."

Of course, it was quite fashionable at one time to 'snip' a long post that you were quoting. As in:
As I have said in the past ... snip
snip ... vote for a self destruct button.

There was an 'aye' button in one of Nathan's recent threads.
