Probably a casual or hire kilt , Cameron of Erracht very popular , as its a military tartan . Its my best kilt as i would have to wait for a Cameron basic in 16oz to be made , no patience . Still one day a Cameron ancient for me !

I didn't realise it was a military Tartan. It is every ones favourite kilt I have now as its colourful I think but it doent feel as nice on as the heavy kilts . However I had it on a lot this weekend as it was so hot and the others were just to hot

Your new kilt must be made from 10 ounce tartan - that is one yard of the fabric weighs 10 ounces. It is the tartan most usually used for kilts for dancers.
The wool fabric is almost always 54 inches wide. There is some lost when it is cut to the right length, but then there is the addition of the stabiliser, straps and buckles, so taking the weight of the kilt in ounces, and dividing that by one half of the length measured along the hem will tell you the weight of the fabric used.

you are most likely correct as its a 8 yard kilt and a 36" to 38" so its large but only 1kg and my others are more like 1.8 1.9 KG so it must me about half the oz of them and im sure the Ex Military ones are 20oz . But it was nice and cool the other one was just to hot for walking about in .
