When the rubber meets the road
You know.....it's one thiing to talk about kilts and about someday getting one. Then it's all just theory....sort of like discussing the idea of perpetual motion on paper.
Today I had to dash home at lunch and get this tan Utillikilt from the apartment office and get it into my apartment. Oh...and by the way, the guys back home are saying I'm totally crazy if I ever do this.
So I'm holding this huge Utilikilt in my hands at lunch - I'm over six feet tall - and I'm thinking if I go walking down the street in this thing I'm going to look like a Klingon.
I don't know.....I'll be washing it tonight.

Hooray!!!
It's here!
You can do it, Phil - and don't listen to those guys - they don't mean that you're crazy IF you do it - you can count on them to already think you're crazy anyway.
Whenever you're ready, we'll be here to cheer you on, console you, whatever you need.
Congrats,

I remember getting my first kilt, my gray UK Mocker. I put it on. I felt great.
Then came the weekend and a trip to Petaluma. I put it on, didn't give a fig about the rest of the world, wore it with confidence and felt...GREAT!
Most of the battle to wear a kilt is in your head, once you are OK with it you will find that most other people are too.
Cheers! (and good luck!)

Go for it. The most negative aspects are in your mind. Chances are good most people won't even notice and of the ones that do the response will be very positive.

Congratulations on getting your first kilt. You will find that it's much easier to wear one in public than you might think. Don't worry about the guys back home think. Just wear it and go about your daily activities as you normally would. Remember, every one hear has taken the first step of wearing a kilt in public. We're hear to offer support if you need it. Enjoy the comfort and freedom!

There's a problem looking like a Klingon?
I must be missing something.

Hey bub! Some of my best friends are Klingons. Besides, we all know it's `em Romulans you can't trust.
Strap on that Utilikilt and strut. When you really want to knock their socks off, get a traditional kilt.

Stand tall, and no one gives you any lip (speaking as a 6'2" guy).
Klingons even run in fear.
