Don't worry, Grant. These mutant kilts are unlikely to attract mates and reproduce.

It is certainly not my style. To me it is nothing but a long and uncomfortable skirt.

    Is it a kilt?

A knee-length skirt with deep pleats, usually of a tartan wool, worn as part of the dress for men in the Scottish Highlands.

    It can't be a kilt.

    Might be a sarong:

A garment consisting of a length of printed cloth wrapped about the waist that is worn by men and women in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Pacific islands.

A full-length kilt is one that comes to the knees.

Longer than that, it starts to look ... wrong.

Not after all this freekin' time on my bike so I look respectable with my legs showing.

If the Japanese can do it, so can we.

Mine would have to be plaid, though.

I will not enter in the merit if it is or not a kilt. I would have to have a formal definition of what is a kilt by some standartization entity, like ISO, with authority to do so

They are pretty common in the heavy metal/goth outfits and (being a metal head) maybe I would use it, but only in "metal" enviroments and/or as part of a metal outfit... But I agree that it should not be very confortable.

Oh dear - I have dressed my computer geek character - in the off topic story telling thread I just had to start, in the long cardigan and denim kilt attire as illustrated at the start of this thread. It just suddenly seemed appropriate.

I think I have a patchwork mentality - what I find, however small, gets included in something else eventually.

I did add the nice boots though. With polish.
