Too much for my tastes. Tartan overkill indeed. But more power to him.

The boots might be acceptable in some situations, and by some people, but for an Investiture? At Buckingham Palace? Please.

Nice fine rebellion as should be shone by all who wear the kilt except for those in service.

The missing qualifier, of course, is 'to me'.
Obviously, the Princess didn't have a problem with his appearance.
Obviously, Buckingham's Palace nor the Princess' Protocol Officer had an issue with his appearance either.
Plus, he's the one with one OBE more than anyone else here, he is an actual Scotsman, so, it is what it is, and he looks to me, in fact splendid.

But dear cousin, jackboots in front of the Princess Royal. It simply isn't done. (English accent affected and tongue firmly in cheek.)
At least he bothered to be bespoke from the ankles up.

I'm a rebel against rebellion.
Can one mandate conformity in rebellion anyway? My head hurts...

Let's just observe that he has generated 80 posts, which may be what he had in mind, though probably not specifically 80 posts here.

My congratulations to Alan for his award and to Howie for creating the fine kilt suit.
** I suggest the boots work well here because they add visual weight to what might be seen as a top-heavy, bold ensemble - in a way, they anchor the wearer to the ground! Shoes just would not have the same effect.
Take care,

I think Alns attire was great and as for the "REBELLIOUS" aspect of his attire Im sure the Pincess royal appreciated it as shes a bit of a rebel herself, shes the only member of the royal family with a criminal record, is can often be heard turning the air blue at photographers.
