Some of us "Seppos" stand with Cushnie.

The fact is that whatever I wear I want it to look good and be worn correctly. I wouldn't for example wear my mid fourteenth century German buttoned hood with my late thirteenth century tunic and surcoat. It isn't because I feel that I would offend anyone (many woudn't know the difference), but rather that I would know that they don't work together. I'm still uncertain on traditional Highland attire and thus I ask those who are more knowledgable than I. As to the hose thing, I don't wear white because I don't like the look. I see that as a fashion matter, much like matching a tie and shirt. I've never been concerned with offending anyone, I just like knowing that I'm wearing the attire in a way that looks good. My goal is to show not just that I have pride in my lineage, but also to show it in a respectable way.

Anyone who has the temerity to hand another a card criticising their dress is no gentleman. Whether you agree or not with their choice of dress is not something to declare in such a public way. A true gentleman would either remind such an individual discreetly or not at all. If I have misunderstood Cushnie in this respect then I must apologise. If, however, what has been described as his behaviour is correct, then he was certainly no gentleman.

As I have read this thread, I have gotten the impression that if Cushnie handed me a card that derided the color of my kilt hose he would explain why he felt any color but white was appropriate. As for his response to the person who poked him in the chest, he may have felt that he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and therefor defended himself in the manner he felt was appropriate.
