My wedding ring slips off rather easily, not that it does any good. I wear the imprint as a permanent brand.
Regarding the OP's original question, IMHO it has nothing to do with TCHD per se. It has everything to do with an individual's confidence. Scotty Thompson said that if there are circumstances where you would not wear the kilt, then you should not wear the kilt under any circumstances. I am not entirely sure that I agree completely with that statement. However, perhaps the same principle applies to an earring?

Jock, that statement reminds me of my father. His sentiments exactly.

Each to their own Bill. Actually, I understand men wearing a wedding ring is gaining popularity over here these days, but in my experience I don't come across it too often--------yet!

They've been increasingly common here since the sixties, Jock.

I am the youngest of three brothers (with a six year gap between me and the next oldest brother); I was the first to marry and the oldest brother was the last to marry. When I married and wore a wedding ring, my father passed it off as the stupidity of youth (he was also in awe of my wife, though, so nothing was said at the time). When the next oldest married and wore a wedding ring, my father attributed it to being married to an overbearing wife, but again, nothing was said. When my oldest brother who was the most straight laced, married and wore a wedding ring, my father was shocked; he said that he expected it of me and the brother closest in age to me, but he never expected it of my oldest brother.
In the USA, wedding rings for men are beyond being common and are now the norm. Most of the married men that I know, under the age of 70, wear a wedding ring, and I don't ever remember attending a wedding where the bride did not give a ring to the groom.
