This is the only warning I shall issue on this matter.

JD: Sorry - didn't know I was breaking any rule. I tacitly assumed that since others were writing about "sodas" and not being chastised, I would simply join in the "conversation" in the spirit of ... I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Mens wit isn't the problem. It's the lack of a knowledge base from which to determine successful strategies. If you have something made that doesn't work, because of unforeseen factors, you've wasted time and money. It's alright though. X Marks is self identified as not all things kilt related. So it is written, so it shall be done.

PodKiDo,
I beg to differ sir. X Marks is the world's largest and most active on-line community dedicated to the kilt.
All we say is that X Marks is not a Scottish history or culture forum. Nor is it a Traditional kilt specific, or Modern kilt specific forum.
What you may be thinking of is a section of our guiding principals that says we cannot be everything to everyone. We fully understand that the kilt is not the sum total of human experience. So, we concentrate on our one small, narrow topic.
I think you will find that if it has to do with a kilt we are "The Kilted Cognizati" as we were titled in a newspaper article a few years ago.

I wasn't casting aspersions at X Marks the Scot. This is a great forum. It does not cover all things kilt related as you just stated. Some that are not allowed, I agree are not even remotely appropriate. The one discussed most in this thread is, in my opinion. I accept your authority on this matter and have not left over it. I responded to Pleater because I thought I could help her understand the CC while kilted position.

And why, may I ask, would you even try to explain this position? This entire thread is an explanation that this topic should not even be brought to this forum.
Time and time again, for the last ten years, the most heated arguments, the most trouble caused on X Mark have been by people who have tried to "explain their position".
What we have been saying for the past three weeks is "I'm sorry, don't even bring this topic to X Marks. It has caused nothing but trouble here."
You may not know a member who lives in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter, but the laws are different. The citizens of other countries have the right to chose a different path. They chose a different path than that is some part of the US.
Respect for the choices of others is one of the founding beliefs of this forum. We do not hold one path up as "the path". It is like you may have learned in school. "Your rights end at the rights of others."
I fail to understand why someone needs to explain their position on these topics, over and over till we end up in an argument. Just let it go. Live your life as you wish and allow others to live their lives as they wish. I think that is one definition of freedom.

I think it was her dig at mens wit and that wonderful smiley bashing his head against a brick wall. I couldn't let it pass.![Naughty](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
Edit: The only trouble I've seen is the folks trying to persuade everyone the topic is bad. But I am new here.

if you're matching wits with Ms Pleater you come half armed.
The topic has been explained not only ad nauseum for years but also ad nauseum in this thread, the Herr Doktor thread, Steve's history of the site etc etc etc. To belabor the point further is pretty much pointless.
