The Granville Island brews are all very nice. I've yet to taste one that I didn't like.

We tried a ale called Casa de Luna Ale. Brewed by Crazy Mountain brewery.
Not a bad ale as it goes, dark and nutty with a hint of bitterness.
Tasted is good, but not one that I would keep around normally.
Our nephew is a disributor of beverages and sometimes gets things out of the ordinary. He gave it to us.

On my last business trip to Madison, WI, I discovered a pub with Left Hand Milk Stout on tap. I found it excellent at the time. Picked up a six pack of bottles when I returned home. It was still decent, but not as good. Tap vs bottle can have a significant difference in taste.

That is because the tap beers are injected with CO2 to some amount at the pub. From what I gather, it comes to themnkind of flat.
The bottle beer has the carbonation in the.bottle.
I tried a local favorite, Dirty Hippie, and found there is a small difference.

Two favorites are: Highland Brewing's Black Mocha Stout, american stout, some sweetness to it; French Broad Brewing's Wee-heav-ier, classic Scotch Ale similar to MacEwan's (90/). Both made in Asheville, NC.

The aforementioned Charlie Bamforth was recently in town where he gave a wonderfully entertaining presentation to a group of brewers and microbiologists. He's originally from the UK and related that when he came to the US he and his wife were driving down a highway and passed a dead skunk. Never having smelled an American skunk that had been cooking on the asphalt before, he initially thought Heineken must have opened a contract brewery nearby...
Me, I gave up Rolling Rock for Grain Belt years ago.

I like a couple of the local (Maine) offerings from the Allagash and Shipyard breweries but Guinness is still my standard drink (although I find I can't have more than two of these!)

There is a nice micro brewery in the Whitehorse Yukon area that serves up some lovely beverages. I'm happy now as it is available in Alberta and the local carry out has an abundant stock .
Nova Scotia used to have this amazing sud called Frosty Frog. I loved that beer.

I am quit fond of the offerings of Old Dominion Brewing Company. Founded here in the Northern VA, hence the name, and now located in Delaware. They produce a nice variety and they are always trying new limited run and seasonal brews of which I am never disappointed. They also make some good handcrafted sodas. http://www.olddominion.com/
