I think we all owe a vote of thanks to Nick and his partner who had the courage to step up and rescue Dalgliesh when nobody else would. Without their continuing efforts, Dalgliesh would be gone and with it all the specialist short runs they are prepared to offer below cost. It's called SERVICE folks!

I second Barb., stop the knocking - be thankful someone had the conviction to come forward to save DCD.
    Regards, Sav.

    Dear All

I'm going to be absolutely clear about this , I said "I'm glad that single width cloth is still being woven by Dalgleish and one can only hope that the quality and tradition of the cloth is maintained." I really mean that! A company still willing to weave short runs of tartan with a traditional selvedge is wonderful.

Barb is quite correct to highlight the different strategies all the Mills are taking to survive. Understanding this and being honest about it will help us all ensure that Tartan production continues. I am also very grateful that there were people with the funds and commitment to step in and save Dalgleish.

However, there really is a difference between outsoucing weaving to trusted suppliers when you are busy and outsourcing weaving when you no longer have the ability to weave the cloth yourself at all, eg special weave double width cloth with a selvedge. I believe that a 'trusted advertiser' should recognize that difference and be open about it when asked and I am sure that is not just my perception.

But I repeat again for the absolute avoidance of any doubt here "I'm glad that single width cloth is still being woven by Dalgleish and one can only hope that the quality and tradition of the cloth is maintained." I wish Dalgleish well and I will be very proud to own a kilt woven in their cloth when I have the opportunity to do so.
    Best wishes - Harvey.
