I get that "look" from my wife (as I believe you are describing your circumstance) when I reread my manuals on auto and motorcycle repair. I tell her that I'm sure I will find something new between the lines. She suggests I find more time with her and less time with my head in the books or in the clouds.

Currently reading The Man With Two Names, but expect to finish it today, then I'll start re-reading the original Hardy Boys books.

For Xmas, my brother gave me a bio on U.S. Grant by Ron Chernow. Before I start that, I am in the middle of re-reading Grant's autobiography.

    Fiction for me

Other than the occasional music-teaching journal, I read fiction almost exclusively - and usually dystopian fiction. I’m currently enjoying the heck out of “Ready Player One”

    War and Peace, Tolstoy

I had not read any of the Russians, so I tried Anna Karenina and it was excellent. Then I tried Crime and Punishment, Dostoevsky, and though good, was a bit dark and disturbing. Everyone seems afraid of War and Peace, but it's just long. If a book is good, I want it to be long so I get more enjoyment, i.e., Lord of the Rings. The only problem with War and Peace (and Anna K.) is the multitude of characters to be kept track of, and the fact that they all have their common name, formal name, and nicknames. I used a notebook to keep track. Note: Don't go online for character outlines, because they don't just tell you who they are, but they are full of spoilers telling you what happened to them!
