Take some pictures of the weekend guys. Make sure you convince Grant to get in on a photo, he seems like the shy sort

He's never around, he's always off lurking for the ever elusive kilt check.

Gonna have a quick nap. Be up around 7.

Hope you guys have a grand time. Disappointed that I wasn't able to make it. Sounds like you'll have a blast.

    Fergus day 1

There are now two threads regarding Fergus. Piccies and this one, so I shall report here. Firstly Barclay was not here. That's a shame he was missed, next year Chris.

Please note I've been disallowed by her majesty to purchase more kilts so I went with my Maple leaf CCK (of course) and my Dessert Camo Freedom Kilt. I would at this point like to indicate that there were only two kilt makers at MacHummel (Pete of CCK). They are both SOKS both know and understand my ban on new kilts.
Using my logic, I figure my wife did not ban me from buying accessories so with that I took it as permission to order two custom ranger belts and 2 braided sporran straps - one each in oxblood and black. On top of this one of Roberts Tasmanian Devil sporrans in oxblood. I figure the high quality leather work from RKilts would perfectly compliment my CCK Maple leaf and in doing so raise me above the other ML wearers around me, garnering me the opportunity to steal away kilt checks from the less dapper one.
Now that the rabble is following my logic might, at this point, quote "The best laid plans of mice-like men..." With a busy schedule, dyeing colour match problems and the fact that Robert doesn't really like me, Robert was only able to make for me my oxblood ranger belt (sheer perfection and top quality I might add). In sensing my despondent look on my face Robert said "Here come with me..." You see Robert knows I admire his leather kilts ever since whenever this old geezer shows up at a SOKS event wearing his leather kilts I KNOW he's flocked, no swarmed, by a bevy of beauties just having to touch his leather work leaving standing alone with tears in my beer. As an apology for not having my belts or sporran done he proceeds to wrap a gorgeous black leather Rkilt around me. It's on consignment so he figured there's no harm in me walk around for five to ten minutes in it, who knows I might even get checked.
Within micro seconds of shedding my Freedom Kilt for this one and strolling to the front of the booth, I sense eyes from all over checking me out. Did I mention that I met Robert wonderful and charming father Henk? Henk does not know about my ban and goes in for the hard sell. With respect to Henk, his promise of dozens of kilt checks and at how handsome I looked (please, I already know this ) was a waste of breath as the price that Robert accidently mentioned and the feel of leather sold me before the third buckle was even cinched home.
I pretty much lived in that kilt all weekend.
If anyone has pics please send them to me for my scathing review .

Let us return to the games. On friday night those SOKS in attendance were McMurdo, Canuck, MacHummel, Kilted Stewert, Hunting McLeod's own fiddler Corey, Corey's friend Rob and myself. the day pretty much consisted in drinking, backbacon and drinking. In the evening we decided to catch the featured performance in the the local beer tent forget the name of the band but I was chuffed in the fact that I kept sneaking beer past the ever vigilant security using the attached tool straps on my new kilt. Later that evening, this quite innebreat..., inebreeted..., drunk reporter received what amounted to a ten minute kilt check at the campsite next door. It was under the guise of seeing how this wonderful kilt was constructed until her husband pipes up "Yes, but is regimental?" I was contemplating this question long as hard as I don't actually recall serving in the military, just then I felt a glancing hand on my left buttock. I shall now take the moment of celebrating with the rest of the rabble about the fact that I got checked. The rest of the evening is pretty much a blur except I recall very jealous McMurdo mentioning to a large, drinking, kilted Scotsman that I was "English and in a leather kilt". The responce was "Aye, he's nothing but a big women then!"
You see all these people are jealous of a a leather RKilt!
I passed out shortly after this.

    Fergus day 2

Saturday started at 6:40 am with the soothing sounds of security driving up and down in their tractors and that of the 2 stroke leaf blows blowing the rubbish into a big pile. More back-bacon and a beer or two to sober out. We were joined later that morning by Wompet and congratulations from the RKilt tent of my kilt check the previous night. I breifly met Archangel recognizing a gorgeous MOD Maple Leaf and something that resembled his avitar. Apperntly a full bladder is more important than meeting me in person. Next year Archangel, I'll buy you a beer. Other people filtered in later, Coreys's wife as did Al the piper from Hunting McLeod. Dick (Improv1) eventally showed up later in the afternoon, the night was set for round of celebration and debauchery. No kilt checks this evening but the stares I got (yes, I checked and the pleats were in the back, thank you very much) from the ladies said it all. At some pont during the afternoon I won a bet regarding the windshieldwasher setup on the older Volkswagens being run off of the air in the spare tire. In hindsight it probably did look strange that a hungover idiot in a leather kilt going up to the strange people asking "scuse me, you're an old b@stard, did you ever drive a VW Beetle?" I was drinking for free the rest of the night, although I think I was paid from out of my own cooler!
Caught Mudmen playing that night so very loud, yet most of the time we could not here two pipers on stage. Not my idea of celtic rock (sorry Cloves) but the younger in our crowd enjoyed them. Went back to the campsite, more insulting the handsome guy in the leather kilt. Then crashed.

    Fergus day 3

The day of recovery. It was a calming day and one of planning. The only thing of note was the suggestion of next year competing in the highland events amature division as Clan MacWanker, we have matching t-shirts.

    Next year boys, next year!

Well just s*&t! Here i was hoping to use everyone's photos of this event to blackmail you and then you go and just admit it all!

Sounds like you all had a good time and oh lordy I want one of Robert's leather kilts. Congrats on that one.

I'm gonna have to work on the Christmas SOKS meeting. Should I be afraid of Robert showing up in one of his leather kilts for me to see in person or should I look forward to sucumbing to the temptation?

Especially since just over a month after that I'll be off to Ferintosh for the Burns Supper Weekend. Hmmmm.

Next year is going to be worse. I bought a model trebuchet that I just finished tonight. Next year we'll be lobbing flaming kittens in to the campsite three campsites away.

Dee, if you are going to spend that much on a kilt (and you must) buy it now. Canadian money is now 95¢ on your dollar, pretty soon it's going to cost you more!
