    Maldon's Easter Parade

The Quaich's next stop was the easter Parade at the township of Maldon in the heart of Victoria's gold country. The town was declared Australia's first Notable Town by the National Trust in 1966. The town was born in Victoria's gold rush era in the !850's. Maldons Easter Fair and parade have been running for 134 years

The parade is opened by a rider (and in this case) her horse, a tradition that has been done since the parade started.

The CHPB on its 3rd march of the day

HRH Prince Charles and Camilla made an appearance

As did Ned Kelly, an infamous Australian bushranger, though he had forsaken his usual horsepower for a more updated version

As mentioned the CHPB had done 3 parades on the day and finally earned themselves a toast, and what better way than to use the Quaich

A husband and wife passerbys also got involved, having just returned from Ireland where they were stopping in the town where Jamiesons Whiskey is made

Toasting was done with Talisker whiskey from the Isle of Skye

Great pix, Mike. I also heartily approve of your choice of Whisky to christen the Quaich's maiden voyage to Down Under (and I know our Jock Scot will approve as well).

    The quaich.

Thank you to xmts for generously sending the quaich around the world for all members to enjoy.I can recommend any member of the forum to get themselves along to one of these quaich occasions when you have the chance.A grand time was had by all,and i was three quarters fou by the time the deoch an dorus were quaffed! The feeling of hospitality and of the hand extended in friendship so long associated with scottish folk was enjoyed by all present.

A special thanks to Downunder kilt, whose kind assistance helped me to attend in a manner fit to honour the night. He has been an able and worthy custodian of the quaich in this southern hemisphere leg of its journey.

Great photos. And many thanks to Downunder Kilt for supplying the fabulous whisky of which we all partook. I was the first to take a drink and resisted saying "I have to down it all, right?" in case it was taken off me.

I have just the one photo from last night:
