Tie knots - does it really matter?

I use a a long tie clip when wearing a tie with a kilt. That way I tie my full winsor knot so the front part of the tie is the perfect length and can simply double up the back of the tie and hold it in the proper place as needed.

Yep, on the rare occasion I'm not wearing a waistcoat over the tie, A tie clip is the fix!
I know clips seem to be out of fashion these days, but a little 'retro style' is better than a ruined tie.

I've used the four in hand for years. Just recently moved to the half windsor for the symmetry. My man at the haberdash store says tie clips are coming back in style. Tie tacks needlessly wreck the tie.
