Tomorrow will be the 707th anniversary of the execution of William Wallace. It will be a Kilted Friday – Not Day. I have a lunch engagement tomorrow at Park Lane Tavern with their social media rep. In the evening this a farewell party there for one of their bartenders, Mike who is headed to Seattle. Mike is a Scot. I’m not holding my breath though, he’ll be kilted. For him being kilted is a requirement of the job. LOL

Mael, your bartender Mike story leads right into a conversation I had with a scottish bartender yesterday, who BTW is also a pretty good piper. We were discussing wearing of the kilt when working behind the bar. He says he would never do it because of the prospect of damaging his kilts. So, I ask; what type of kilt does Mike wear behind the bar, wool, P/V, acrylic?

The bartenders and serving wenches pretty much wear SportKilts in doing their duties.

Sounds like a good place for a USAKilt casual. Easy to wash quick to dry and at a good price point.

Another Friday out kilted. Wore a Black watch Burnett's and Struth wool casual, black Guinness shirt (with gold writing in Irish Gaeilge), black hose, black watch flashes, black shoes, black Mojo Leather sporran, strap, and belt. Wore all that to coffee with some former co-workers in the morning. Got a "nice kilt!" from the female. The male is a celtic music guy and asked about the Irish/Scottish combo.
Later it got warmer so I switched the hose and shoes for short black socks and black tennis shoes, ditched the jacket and took the dog out for a mega walk. On the home stretch, a 20-something guy pulled over on his bicycle and asked "what's your last name?" and then talked about his newly discovered Scottish heritage and asked about the tartan. I explained it's universal nature of the Black Watch and that my next would be a McIntosh or a Gunn.

One of my residents came in to my office with the question, "what are you wearing, today?
I obliged her question by standing up and showing her my USA Kilt semi trad in Malcolm tartan.
She approved it with a quick feel of the apron.

She was rather quick with it. Fortunately, another resident was present that prevented any other checks!

My weekend was pretty typical. Wrap it on and go out and do what needs to be done. Thursday, had to visit with my psych prof. Another student thought it was a skirt for about a minute. Friday, went shopping a bit. Had a couple of children (under 9) snickering about the kilt until a parent shushed them. Sunday, had a few questions about being Scottish. I explained that a kilt makes you Scottish as much as wearing Levi's button fly's make you a prospector a'la 1849er. Later on I was asked what clan the tartan was. Since I was wearing USA Kilts Firefighter's Memorial, it was easy to explain that anyone could wear a kilt.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.
