Tendonitis isalmost never a tiny thing. Address it now before it gets worse.

My knee is still a work in progress but I can walk and throw some as long as it's not the weights.

Kit, I have a contact for a really good physical therapist in case this doesn't do the trick. This morning I feel definite improvement, so I'm hopeful. It was an act of will to go to practice last night and NOT throw.

After doing the dishes last night, the wrist is worse. I've purchased a more sophisticated brace online, which I should have in a few days. All training has come to a complete halt. Grrr.

on the other hand, I don't have a rare, terminal cancer like my SIL, so I should shaddup about it.

Right elbow is getting better, I'm glad for this. Left wrist is about the same, which is NOT good, three days out from cortisone. Now I'm starting to be concerned for the rest of the season. This condition can take 6-9 months to resolve in a significant proportion of cases.

all because of a 2-3 days loss of an ergonomic keyboard.

This just plain sucks. Is more cortisone a possibility? You are bigger than most guys, maybe you need a bigger blast of the stuff?

It's one thing to lose training/competition time due to an injury sustained through active participation. But, come on, a keyboard!!! That's just insult to injury.

I've been wearing the wrist brace, taking 900 mg of Advil a day, and icing the wrist 3x a day since Thursday. Between that and the cortisone, it seems to have paid off, my wrist is significantly better. It's not 100% but I'd say it's 2/3rds of the way back to normal. I set up the sheaf standards today after church and then threw for a bit. It wasn't much...3 light hammer tosses, 5 LWFD throws, 5 HWFD throws and 5 OS tosses. The hammers were short, but they didn't hurt. LWFD felt pretty good, though distances were short. HWFD was the bomb, three great throws and one good one out of five. OS was fine, though there were some twinges in my right elbow while doing this. I should be able to throw jut fine at Costa Mesa if this keeps up.

Threw at practice tonight, felt good and had fun.

We started with sheaf, the 20 pounder. Everybody got in 8-10 throws. I can clear 18 pretty regularly, 20 is probably a no go with the 20. I still haven't made a 16 pound sheaf!

Then some HWFD, which went OK, but not swimmingly. I need to drill, more.

Then some hammer. I tried working on some stuff I picked up from reading Jake Sullivans workout logs, but no go. So I just tried to get the biggest radius I could on my last wind to release and started throwing well. The last throw of the night...get the biggest radius I could plus "throw as if you're running downhill out of control with your hair on fire"...went 87 feet. I'll take it!

Finished up with some 14 pound weight for distance, trying something Jake Sullivan does, and this time it made sense. It didn't do anything for me when I tried it with the 28 pounder, but now it does. I'll try it with the 28 tomorrow.

Hopefully Steve Elliott will join us for some caber and wob at practice tomorrow.

Steve did come out to join us tonight, it's always good to see him. All our newbs bailed on us, so this was a wasted opportunity to glean some knowledge from one of the better caber throwers around.

Well, we threw some weights. I helped Steve a bit by getting him to cast the weights around and off to his side instead of straight forward. That helps him get around and his single-spins were out there at about 40 feet. Not too shabby. I'm a bit all over the place, still, but I did put a couple throws out around 50. We did some first turn drills, which probably helped.

Then we threw some HWFD, which went reasonably well....not *great* but reasonably well.

Moved on to WOB, where between Steve and Ryan You, I have an idea for something to try for the next few weeks.

Everybody left and I finished up with 4-5 hammer tosses, focusing on **reaching** and getting big radius on the last wind. All tosses 80+. sweet.

Very short session after church today, maybe 90 minutes.

Threw some 20 lb sheaf. I pop-and-blocked it over 18 a couple of times and then "threw though the bag" over 18 a couple more. Then I got it over 20 feet 3x out of 4, throwing through the bag, and figured that maybe I should start coming in at 20 with the 16 pound sheaf...called that a wrap.

WOB... did some "throw like a squat" throws over 11 feet, maybe 2-3. Then 3 at 12 feet, "throw like a squat". Then three throws at 13, got two of them. Then just went for it at 13' 6"... and got two of them. They wouldn't have cleared a knockoff bar, but *hey*

Then three caber tosses...no pop at all. ugh. I'm an old man, but I muscled the Whomper over for 2, 12:00 and one 1:00 which ain't bad for an old, tired man. yeah, I remember how to do this.

Three heavy hammer, three light hammer, which had no sauce on them at all and I called it a day.
