which bonnet

We are having our annual "Christmas at Sea" event at the maritime park this Saturday. Most of the participants will be in 1901 style clothing (see photo)
I have been asked to be in full formal kilt wear with PC jacket and vest and fly plaid.
I shall be taking groups of 14 people around from ship to ship to enjoy the different events on board 3 different ships. As I shall be outside on the pier as much as inside on the ships my question is which bonnet to wear, my TOS, Balmoral or Glengarry?

I second Jock Scot since the PC is really not an 'outdoor' jacket, it is not really seen with headwear. Other formal jackets such as certain doublets would lend themselves to headwear however a PC is really a dinner jacket or tuxedo equivalent.

I would suggest you will look fine without it. Unless you have another jacket option?

As you will be moving the group between ships, I would think the Balmoral will be the way to go, but only while outdoors. It will accommodate the weather and fit the period of the groups attire. Sounds like great fun.

I agree that ordinarily I would not consider wearing any hat while wearing the PC. However it is going to be quite cold on the waterfront and I am wearing my hair very short these days and for some reason my volunteer's baseball cap just doesn't seem the proper cover to wear.

In the 19th C, it's my understanding that one didn't go about out of doors without a head cover, so I would recommend the balmoral as I do not like to wear the glengarry myself.
