Happy 100th Birthday, BSA!

I just had to do this. On this date in 1910, the BSA was incorporated by publisher W. D. Boyce. Boyce first learned about Scouting when a Scout refused payment for helping him through a fog. He was simply doing a Good Turn. For 100 years, Scouts across America have kept to that example, doing Good Turns daily. Today, we celebrate the 100...th Anniversary of this great movement and begin our next 100 years of service.

The Boy Scouts never left the values to which America is returning. Long live the Boy Scouts...There has never been nor will there ever be a finer organization for treaching and traing the lads of the world. As a life long BSAer and an Eagle Scout I say thank you for remembering the birthday and posting a great pic. The BSA tartan is on my list as soon as the finances straighten out a little. Thanks again.

FYI, there is no official Boy Scouts of America tartan - the Boy Scouts of America doesn't allow kilts as part of the official uniform.

The scout tartans listed under the Scottish Tartans Authority are for the UK (British) Scout Association for wear mainly by those members that can't find/afford kilts in their own tartan or don't have a tartan of their own (i.e. their family isn't associated with one of the traditional Scottish clans).

If you've been through Wood Badge, you could become an associate member of the Clan MacLaren, and get one in that tartan, if you're so inclined. I've already stated my position on the subject of kilts and the BSA uniform in other threads and won't go into it here.

If you are a scouter, please show up at the games in your uniform and kilts.
All Scouters in N. Fl, kilt it if you have it, show up anyway if you don't. We will be honored by CMSNA to be in the opening procession at the N. Fl games. If you need more info, PM me.

Sorry I missed your thread. As an Eagle Scout (class of '80) and proud father of an Eagle Scout I'd like to add my birthday wishes for the BSA. *dad gad* your Venture Uniform looks good with the McLaren tartan. I'll have to try mine with my green tweed from Rocky. I actually was invited by our District Executive to wear my kilt with my Venture Crew uniform shirt to a meeting in which he and my son and I were helping to set up a new Venture Crew at a private college last fall.
