Maker and material of these Clan badges?
Hello all. These badges were given to me many years ago and I was wondering if anyone could ID the maker and material they are made from. I have no idea if they're silver or another material. The stamps on the back read 'Scotland' on the top part with a very tiny mark beside that which I can't make out. On the bottom the stamps read DB in an oval as well as the numbers 57 and 70B stamped in. The badges are actually silver in colour.....not the yellowish that the pics show.
Thanks for any help.
Karl

They look to be from Art Pewter, they're made from a coated pewter which give them the shiny finish. The DB refers to Dawson-Bowman the company founder. Sterling silver items will be hallmarked with Sil, Silver, Sterling or actual hallmarks from an assay office.

Looks spot on. I have the MacFarlane badge on a buckle - a quick look on the Art Pewter website show that the numbers on the back of the badges are a part of a product code - e.g. MacFarlane is CB057 (presumably B is badge - the corresponding kilt pin is CKP057).
