new pipe music collection
A while ago a piper friend told me there was some piper up in Canada looking for new compositions for a new collection of pipe music.
I contacted the fellow, Nathan Mitchell, who was very nice, and sent him a tune.
I was pleased to see that it has come to fruition, the 2nd volume of The Winnipeg Collection. All monies raised to go charity.

It's humbling to see my name amongst some of the greatest names in piping.
I've written loads of tunes that were mediocre at best. The tune I submitted was pretty much the only thing I've ever written, in 40 years, that's any good.

Wow , congratulations Richard ! Quite a well deserved accomplishment to be included in the Winnipeg Collection , especially given all your years in piping .
Quite a list of pipers . I am familiar with many but not all of them , however , to have your tune included with pipers like William Robertson , Campbell Naismith , Robert Fraser , Hugh MacPherson and Neil Sutherland is very commendable .
Congratulations again !
Mike

Congratulations, Richard! It's a big accomplishment and honour to have your tune included and your name on that list! I recognize some of the names on the list, and I actually know two of them (including you). It is for a good cause as well.

My congratulations as well!
I'm truly envious of creative people. They have the ability to make something which never existed before!

Thanks everyone!!
It would be really cool if some Pipe Major somewhere, reading through this collection to see the latest compositions of so many big names in the piping world, would accidentally come across my tune, and like it, and have his/her band play it.
It's a great thing for a composer, to hear people play his/her compositions.

I'm not a piper and have never even seen pipe music so is it written much like any music (piano or otherwise) with staffs, clefs, notes and rests, or is it peculiar to the pipes? (The reason I ask is because I am a guitarist and there is a new method - new to an old fart like me anyway - that is called "tabs" that is written from the perspective of the strings and fingers.)
Regards,
Tom
