Kilted degree team Inner guard sword

I am a member of the Kilted Degree Team in my masonic district. Yesterday we performed a degree and this is the sword I was presented with, and asked to use, in place of the sabre I normally use, for my office as Inner Guard. I never took this style to be Scottish, but rather German.

It does look like a German Landsknecht sword to me. Maybe they thought it looked like a claymore, or at least the one from braveheart. That classic historical documentary.

Yes, that is what I thought. They did not think it looked like a claymore. There was a basket hilted broadsword replica, and a used sabre available. They had a reason to have me use this.

Love the engrailed blade! St. Michael is usually portrayed with one, representing a blade of fire.
