An Evening in Abbotsford: March 17th?
Being that I'm passing through the lower mainland area in mid-March, I realize that not everyone may be able to make it out to our kilt night in Victoria on the 19th.
Would anyone care to get together for a pint or two in Abbotsford on Saturday, March 17th?
I am recommending Abbotsford because that's where the wife and I are going to be that day, and available in the evening... We don't have our own transportation though, which is a bit limiting.
If any of the rabble are interested and happen to be in the area, please respond in this thread.
Cheers,
JD

Re: An Evening in Abbotsford: March 17th?
I live in Abbotsford & do have transportation ( most of the time; a 30 yr old car does occasionally end-up in sick-bay) & I'll be on time-off, on the 17th. I se that both Big Mikey & Xman offered to meet-up, preferably in Langley, somewhere - so I'm offering to transport us all there, if you'd like, and be 'designated driver' - or? ( I'll check-back, to this thread, as time & work schd. allows).

I'm sure we could make this happen. An Irish pub sounds best.

Dublin Crossing has been suggested -- and we have met there before. Tough night to find a table of size, though, and maybe we need a Mikey there early to lie on one for us. Anyway, as it looks tonight Ruth and I can be there.

Had problems, logging-on, for 2 days, but now I'm back. I've pm'd Big Mikey, to see if he is "in" and can reserve a table ( or?, depending upon how many want to attend) for St. Paddy's night (March 17th) at Dublin Crossing. SO: who is "in" for a kilt night??

I'm in ... unless my wife finds out at the wrong time.

No chance of reserving a table at DC on St. Pats. Being a Saturday the place will be a zoo right from opening. Last year they sold VIP passes that guaranteed you could get in the door. Our only chance of getting in en masse would be to arrive in the afternoon
(2:00 PM). Another option would be to gather on Sunday when things have calmed down a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if it will be the same at any Irish pub.

Well, personally -- I'm more interested in the company than getting gooned because it's St. Patty's.
Does anyone know of any semi-decent establishments that AREN'T necessarily "Irish" but that would still allow us to enjoy some food, drinks, & socialization?
As an additional thought, if we wanted to gather around suppertime (i.e. earlier in the evening) a restaurant or bar & grill would be good too. And it would allow us to finish the evening before it gets super-busy with the later crowds...

Well, how about, the Port Kells Keg & Cleaver?
http://www.kegsteakhouse.com/en/loca...y/langley-keg/
which is near the 200th St. freeway exit? they don't accept reservations, on Fridays or Saturdays ( presumably those are busy nights??) , but the food & drink is good ... and not a "Sports Bar", so no big screen TV to compete against. I was there recently as part of a party of 14, and no trouble getting to sit together.
