New kilt in Strathmore tartan with swell green straps
Just finished a kilt that was a collaborative effort with XMarker Todd Bradshaw. Thought I'd post a pic to show 1) the tartan and 2) Todd's leather work. This is the Strathmore tartan, and I think it is delightfully unusual. Brown-based tartans are typically of the "weathered" variety, where greens are rendered as khaki. I love this tartan, because the brown is paired with a beautiful bright green.
The customer has a green leather sporran and sporran strap (at top of the pic above), and he asked me if it was possible to have brass buckles and green straps to match his sporran strap and hardware. I immediately thought of Todd - I made a kilt for him last summer, and, when I delivered it to him, I had a chance to see his really fine leather work (see his sporran at http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...our-day-88857/). I pinged him and asked if he could make some kilt straps to match the sporran strap. Todd did a beautiful match, and the green straps add so much to the kilt!!
