    Joining Clan MacFarlane

In my continuing adventure exploring family connections to our Scottish roots I found that Clan MacFarlane counts Webb, my mother's maiden name, as a sept of their clan. I've been quite impressed by their responsiveness and they've given me a warm welcome since my first inquiry. I'm starting to work on the original family homestead for that side of the family, which makes it even better to have found a Clan connection to that side of the family. When a house eventually gets built out there the MacFarlane flag will probably find a proper place hanging over the fireplace. I'd welcome the chance to meet any of my new clansmen here on XMarks!

    My grandmother was a McFarlane.

Her family moved from Glasgow to Manchester (prior to that they seam to have been in Perthshire back to the 1600s).

Welcome. My MacFarlane ancestors were weavers in the Glasgow area up until the 1870s when my great grands emigrated to western Pennsylvania.

The International Clan MacFarlane Society has its AGM in Arrochar this summer (combined with a tour).

I'm not going but will be in Scotland at the same time. I have 2 back to back tours I'm running from Estonia and my 2nd trip runs in parallel with theirs over 3 or 4 days in Oban, Kilmartin, Mull, Glen Coe, Fort William and Loch Ness. Might be fun to see so many MacFarlanes out and about.
