The Rogue and I are going to be in Springfield over the holidays. We were curious if any Kilted meet and greets were going to be going on then. Is there many Xmarks people up there?

When will you be up? Our local St. Andrew's Society has an annual Christmas party, and there are several Xmarkers in the area. I'm sure we can put something together.

Right around Christmas.
There was a pub about a block from the square that we liked. To be honest we were bummed there wasn't a good place other than there and the SGFLD brewing company to have a good sit and drink a good beer.

SGF Brew Co. is decent (our only microbrewery at present), and then there's Patton Alley Pub, which is about a block SW of the square, which has quite a selection of beers. There's a relatively new place on South Street just south of the square called "Finnegan's Wake", which has a neon Irish harp sign on the facade, but I haven't been there yet.

I've been to Finnegan's Wake, it's nice and the beer is good.
The Mudlounge on East Walnut is good too, though due to popularity it can get crowded and hard to find a place to sit on a Friday and Saturday night.
I also like Linburgs up at Commercial and Campbell but they don't have Guinness on tap, only drawback to that place. The other thing to warn ahead of time is they have a cover charge on nights when a band is playing.

Update on Lindburgs, they now have Guinness on tap. I don't recommend going there after about 8:30/9pm especially on weekens because that's when they have a band play and it's really hard to have a conversation when the music is playing.
