    Tartan day NYC

Is anything going on for this?

Marching in the parade on Saturday is great. I've been going for years.
Many people meet up at the St. Andrews Pub before and after the parade and then at Stout that night for the party.

    Smart Move By Parade Organizers....

It was good to see they had scheduled the parade for the 14th of April rather than the 7th. I have seen a number of events scheduled for the 7th which for a large number of people is not a good day owing to their religious observances (no discussion of religion just a statement of fact).

I have done the same (with the Macphersons, naturally), however, I haven't been in a few years now. We probably passed right by each other! Always a splendid time in Manhattan!

    Cheers,

Since I've become aware of this event, they have always moved it when it falls on Holy Saturday.

NYC has another reason for moving the observance due to religious holidays. Since the first official event of the day is a Kirkin', it might be hard to find an available church on the 7th.

Tartan Day on Ellis Island, sponsored by the Clan Currie Society, will open Tartan Week on Saturday, March 31 with a new exhibition entitled, "An Leabhar Mor" - the Great Book of Gaelic. The exhibition runs through Sunday, April 8. To commemorate National Tartan Day, the Society will play host to a group of pipers, drummers, dancers and other live Scottish entertainment from April 6 through 8. Admission is free.
