State of Utah Tartan - Anyone interested?

I thought I would see what interest we have in having a run done in the State of Utah official tartan. If you did not know we had one, go to the following link and it has a short explanation about it.

    Scottish Tartans Authority Link:

Obviously, we might have to get permission to have it made, but I don't think it should be a problem. I would like to get it run in PV, but we can do it in Wool if that is preferred. Once we have it run, we can can choose what kilt maker we want to make it on an individual basis.

Please try and keep your comments to a YES or a NO (and a brief reason as to why not, if you want).

I have also passed this idea on to the Utah Scottish Association. Hopefully we can generate some interest.

    No.
My love of The Great State of Utah is second only to that of my own state, but I would have liked the tartan colors to reflect the beautiful earth tones that I associate with Utah rather than the red white and blue.

I agree with MacMillan's son - I'm a life-long resident of Utah but dislike the state tartan.

If there were a good "Utah Slickrock" tartan, I'd rethink that!

    Interested - YES!

I'm not sure I can afford it at the moment, though.

By the way, do you happen to know who controls the weaving rights to the tartan? I've been wondering about that ever since I inquired of an employee at, I believe, Edinburgh Castle in SLC, and he told me it was a "restricted" tartan. I thought it odd at the time that an officially-recognized state tartan would be proprietary. My best guess is that it's the Utah Scottish Association that owns the design.
