Good morning, from Cape Town
Good morning (for me) to all, from Cape Town. It is amazing the effect that kilts have on the general populace! My paternal origins are Southern Ireland (pre the Irish Republic) and, I suspect, Scotland, before that. In any case, being South African, never wore a kilt. I became a member of an English Masonic Lodge and also Affiliated to a Scottish Lodge. Now that I am in Cape Town, I Affiliated to a Scottish Lodge, here (in fact, to 3, now). At this years Burns Evening, a kilt, jacket, socks, & tabs and sporran went up for auction and I got them. In the SUMMER I wear the outfit, the tartan being Black Watch. I have a Black Watch, Wexford and Kilkenny bowties that I wear with it. The one lodge has a white apron with black and gold border and goes well with the kilt.
I was, oddly comfortable, wearing a kilt for the first time. I thought it might be a bit weird, but it was not.
Of course, many of the Scottish Masons wear kilts and it is surprising how new members, take to it, as well.
About me. Retired pharmacist. One-time the Medical Logistician of the SADF in SWA/Namibia. Finished working at a Provincial Hospital, becoming their first Chief Pharmacist before retiring. I do genealogy and, of course, Freemasonry.

Thank you. Still a newbie to kilts, and, right now, way too cold. If I had the trews, I'd wear them.
